The amphibious assault training was part of Exercise Balikatan 2009, a combined joint bilateral training exercise involving Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S military personnel and subject mater experts. Balikatan is a Tagalog word that means "shoulder to shoulder" and characterizes the philosophy and intent of the exercise. |
