Getting information about a discussion

Hello, all. Help met het vertalen in uw taal (if you think it would help).

This question is related to Wikipedia:Overleghulpmiddelen and the mw:Talk pages project/Visual enhancements. This project is in an early stage. (Despite the name, it's not really about the visual aspect. However, if you add more information to the page, then that information has to go somewhere, which means the appearance will change somewhat.)

The scenario:

Sometimes, I read a page, and there will be a long discussion. I want to get a quick idea about the conversation. For example, is this just two people talking to each other? (A wiki-friend and I had a ~150,000-byte-long conversation recently.) Or is it a lot of editors? When did it start, or when was the most recent comment? (Has anyone else ever replied to comments made "yesterday", but several years ago?) Is the number of editors more important, or would you rather have a list of who posted a comment? Or whether it's mostly new editors vs experienced editors vs admins?

What I'd like to know is: What information would be helpful for you to see at the top of a conversation? Whatamidoing (WMF) (overleg) 22 jul 2021 01:18 (CEST)

For me, the who and when are the most important points. So the names of participants (maybe collapsible), and the dates of the first and latest comment in the thread. I don't like the idea of explicitly distinguishing groups like 'experienced editors' vs. 'admins', although sometimes it could be helpful on admin request pages. Wikipedia Schrijfwedstrijd 2021

Hallo allemaal,

Vanaf 1 augustus gaan de inschrijvingen voor de jaarlijkse Wikipedia Schrijfwedstrijd weer van start. Aan de schrijfwedstrijd mag iedereen meedoen: alleen, samen met een andere Wikipediaan, of samen met een coach. Alle soorten artikelen zijn welkom. Er zijn enkele vaste beoordelingscriteria aan de hand waarvan de jury na 2 maand je artikel zal beoordelen. Je krijgt naderhand in ieder geval de sterke en minder sterke punten van je artikel te horen, en misschien win je wel een prijs!
Ik ben voor deze wedstrijd ook nog op zoek naar een jury, bij voorkeur van vijf personen: kandidaten hiervoor kunnen zich nu al inschrijven.

Wil je meedoen, of meehelpen, schrijf je dan vanaf aankomende zondag in op de wedstrijdpagina. De inschrijvingen sluiten op 31 augustus, waarna je tot en met 31 oktober de tijd hebt voor het schrijven van je artikel. Ciell need me? ping me! 26 jul 2021 22:50 (CEST)

• A new version of MediaWiki came to the Wikimedia wikis the week before last week. This was not in Tech News because there was no newsletter that week.

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 July. It will be on all wikis from 29 July (calendar).
